ADJUDICATING

Since 2008 I have been a dance adjudicator for the British and International Federation of Festivals (BIFF) travelling the length and breadth of the country witnessing the incredible young talent the UK has to offer. I feel very strongly about providing opportunities for young people in dance and endeavour to offer personal, supportive and constructive feedback to help young performers develop further. As an adjudicator I cover all genres of dance and musical theatre and am well known for my enthusiasm talking to the performers... and for my shoes and co-ordinating socks!

In 2015 Nathan joined the adjudicating panel of All England Dance (AED) and has been on the panel for several regional competitions.  In 2022 he became a Trustee of the charity and was appointed the role of Artistic Director, alongside adjudicating at the Finals.  His focus is on developing further opportunities for dancers alongside training new adjudicators.

I am very passionate about the competitive dance scene and have been an active member as Vice-Chair of the BIFF Adjudicators council alongside my duties with AED.  I am particularly keen to help nurture and develop the new generation of adjudicators, a job that I take great pride in.  There are many skills that are required, not just performance experience or a raft of teaching qualifications, and training the eye to make decisions quickly with a clear rationale is vital.

In 2023 I had the honour to be invited to be part of the international judging panel for Dance World Cup both at a qualifier in Guernsey, Channel Islands and at the finals in Braga, Portugal.  I was thrilled to be invited and had an incredible time seeing the breadth and scope of talent drawn from around the world.
