ADJUDICATING

Since 2008 I have been a dance adjudicator for the British and International Federation of Festivals (BIFF) travelling the length and breadth of the country witnessing the incredible young talent the UK has to offer. I feel very strongly about providing opportunities for young people in dance and endeavour to offer personal, supportive and constructive feedback to help young performers develop further. As an adjudicator I cover all genres of dance and musical theatre and am well known for my enthusiasm talking to the performers... and for my shoes and co-ordinating socks!

In 2015 I joined the adjudicating panel of All England Dance (AED) and have been on the panel for several regional competitions. In 2022 I became a Trustee of the charity and was appointed the role of Artistic Director, alongside adjudicating at the Finals. My focus is on developing further opportunities for dancers alongside training new adjudicators.

I am very passionate about the competitive dance scene and have been an active member as Vice-Chair of the BIFF Adjudicators council alongside my duties with AED. I am particularly keen to help nurture and develop the new generation of adjudicators, a job that I take great pride in. There are many skills that are required, not just performance experience or a raft of teaching qualifications, and training the eye to make decisions quickly with a clear rationale is vital.

In addition to my work for BIFF and AED, I am also a registered adjudicator for Miss Dance and Dance Master and for the Theatre Dance Council International Championships (IDTA). In 2023 and 2024 I was part of the judging panel for the Global Performing Arts Alliance (GPAA) competition in Dubai and Ireland alongside fellow judges Matt Henry MBE, Solange Urdang OBE, Claudimar Neto and Sam Francis. 2024 saw me invited to judge the Champion of Champions for the UK Dance Class Championships (UKDDC).
In 2023 I had the honour being invited to join the judging panel of the Dance World Cup (DWC) both at qualifiers and their annual final event. I was thrilled to be invited and had an incredible time seeing the breadth and scope of talent drawn from around the world. Alongside my judging duties I have also conducted several sold out tap workshops and have continued this relationship through the 2024 finals and qualifiers and the 2025 qualifiers.
